چکیده
ABSTRACT

First Transmission Assessment Survey (TAS-1) has been carried out successfully in Donggala District. The success was supported by epidemiological aspects, including data on the presence of vectors and environment that is potential as a breeding places for mosquitoes. In order District to achieve filariasis elimination formally, it important determine existence itspotential so continuously control them instead other interventions. A cross-sectional study conducted post-TAS-1 vector Activities include mosquito surveys environmental two selected locations, namely Kelurahan Kabonga Kecil, Kecamatan Banawa Sabang Village, Dampelas District.
results showed 2,978 mosquitoes were caught from genera Mansonia, Culex, Aedes, Anopheles, Armigeres, Uranotaenia, Coquilettidia Aedomvia, PCR examination negative Brugia malayi. mosquitoes” habitats tree holes, ponds, rice fields, used goods, post -mining excavations, rivers, waterways, puddles, swamps, dug springs, boats, water reservoirs, tires, wells, coconut shells, cans.

Transmission Assessment Surveys (TAS) to Define Endpoints for Lymphatic Filariasis Mass Drug Administration: A Multicenter Evaluation
BACKGROUND Lymphatic filariasis (LF) is targeted for global elimination through treatment of entire at-risk populations with repeated annual mass drug administration (MDA). Essential for program success is defining and confirming the appropriate endpoint for MDA when transmission is presumed to have reached a level low enough that it cannot be sustained even in the absence of drug intervention....
متن کاملPost-MDA Transmission Assessment Survey for Elimination of Lymphatic Filariasis in La Ciénaga, Dominican Republic
The Dominican Republic is one of four remaining countries in the Americas with lymphatic filariasis (LF). Annual mass drug administration (MDA) with albendazole and diethylcarbamazine was conducted in La Ciénaga, an impoverished urban barrio in Santo Domingo, from 2004 to 2006. Eight years after the last MDA, a transmission assessment survey (TAS) was conducted in November–December 2014 to dete...
متن کاملThe significant scale up and success of Transmission Assessment Surveys 'TAS' for endgame surveillance of lymphatic filariasis in Bangladesh: One step closer to the elimination goal of 2020
BACKGROUND Bangladesh had one of the highest burdens of lymphatic filariasis (LF) at the start of the Global Programme to Eliminate Lymphatic Filariasis (GPELF) with an estimated 70 million people at risk of infection across 34 districts. In total 19 districts required mass drug administration (MDA) to interrupt transmission, and 15 districts were considered low endemic. Since 2001, the Nationa...

In a Bancroftian filariasis survey on the coast of Tanzania microfilaria rates rose with age reaching 53% in the 60-69 year group followed by a slight fall above this age. The most important clinical manifestations were hydrocoele, funiculitis and elephantiasis, with hydrocoele presenting the most serious public health problem. Hydrocoele rates increased with age reaching 90% above the age of 7...

Introduction As early as 1919, MENDELSON (20) mentioned in his paper on "Tropical diseases observed in Siam" fever and elephantiasis in connection with microfilaraemia in Thailand. The disease causing filariae, however, were not further specified. Over 30 years later IYENGAR (17) conducted a survey on human filariasis in four southern provinces on the peninsula of Thailand. Of a total of 4,112 ...
